Bathrooms are notorious for getting cluttered quicker than other areas in the home!
Makeup, face wash, hair products, shampoo, creme rinse, acne cleansers, cleaning products, leg wax, etc., all find their way into the bathroom.
The text on the labels assures us that this particular product will solve all our problems! Unfortunately, most products we buy don’t make our skin better, our hair thicker, or our legs smoother! We feel bad about the money we spent and keep products we don’t actually like.
Bathroom items you can get rid of and NEVER miss!
- Old Makeup can be full of germs especially if you put your fingers in it, or if it touches your skin on a regular basis. If you squeeze it out of a bottle and you’re careful not to put your fingers in it then it can last longer. If it’s past the expiration date or if you can’t remember when you bought it then it should probably go in the trash. If you have trouble with imperfect skin, old mackup can make it worse.
- Mascara usually clumps after a year.
- Foundation will seperate when it gets old. If it starts to smell bad it’s probably full of germs.
- Lipstick will taste bad it it’s expired especially if you buy lipstick made from natural ingredients.
- Eye liner, lip liner, and lipstick that you sharpen with a sharpner will often last longer because you periodically scrape off the used edge. This keeps it basically germ free if you clean your sharpner.
- Blush will often last for several years if you keep it dry. Moisture attracts germs. If your blush brushes are clean then you probably don’t have anything to worry about. Throw out the blush if the container is broken and it’s leaking powder all over your cosmeticas bag.
- Eye Shaddow. Basically the same rules apply to eye shadow and blush. Buy extra eye shaddow applicators. Exchaning the old applicator for a new one periodically helps keep it germ free. If you use a brush make sure it it’s clean and dry. When the blush container breaks toss it.
- Powder. How long it lasts, depends on the type of face power you buy. Check the expiration date. Brushes are often cleaner than powder puffs.
- Get rid of any broken containers. It could be for soap, makeup, shampoo, ect.
- Throw away any products that your allergic to. I bought a mascara that I happened to be allergic to and I put it in my pure for emergencies! Everytime I used it I cried and cried! I finally had to admit I was an idiot for keeping it!
- Get rid of travel sized products if you never use them and don’t travel often.
- Old nail polish that is too thick.
- Old nail files. These can be full of germs. We have tons of bacteria under our fingernails!
- Beauty products that have expired. This could be face cream, acne products, face masks, ect.
- Medications that expired.
- Hair styling products you don’t like.
- Hair styling machines you don’t use.
- Old toothbrushes.
- Threadbare towels.
- Extra brushes and combs that you don’t like.
- Old tweezers that no longer pinch correctly.
- Old nail clippers that are dull.
- Perfume that is several years old and doesn’t smell like new.
- Body spray that is over two years old.
- Toss anything in your bathroom that you don’t like the scent of.
- Throw out cleaning sprays or other cleaning products that you don’t feel work well.
- Get rid of pony tail holders that are about to break. I happened to grab several almost broke hair ties the other day, and they snapped when I needed to put my hair up for work.
- Throw away bobby pins that are bent out of shape.
- Any other hair items, barrettes, scrunchies, headbands, or bows that you don’t like or rarely use.
- Expired medications
Sometimes getting started by throwing out expired food and bathrooms products you don’t like can get the momentum going.
